About the Role:

  • Assist with feeding, watering and movement of sows and piglets
  • Maintain specified housekeeping assignments, including power washing and disinfecting, in accordance with the provided housekeeping guidelines and expectations
  • Carry out and understand the importance of all biosecurity procedures
  • Keep accurate record keeping for breeding and farrowing of sows within a timely and accurate manner
  • Perform vaccinations and identify/provide medical treatment to maintain the health of sows
  • Process, treat, castrate and wean piglets
  • Artificially inseminate and heat check sows
  • Perform other job duties assigned that are found to be necessary

Who You Are:

  • GED or high school diploma preferred
  • Must be able to work early mornings and some weekends
  • Willing to work 8 to 10-hour shifts; average 50 hours per week
  • Able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds consecutively
  • Have a passion for livestock and agriculture
  • Able to handle multiple assignments and tasks around the farm
  • Evidence of analytical reasoning and mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply and divide
  • Manufacturing or farm experience preferred, but not required

We entered the industry in 1985 with the purchase of a 600 head farrow to finish operation in Circleville. The Wean to Finish Barn Operator plays an important role in the oversight and performance of a designated barn for mid-sized to full-sized pigs, also known as wean to finish. This hands-on role includes all aspects of animal care, animal transport, facility repair and farm maintenance. The Wean to Finish Barn Operator will sort pigs, transport pigs from one barn to another, manage feed and inventory of supplies, maintain a clean environment, perform routine maintenance and repairs, all while ensuring optimal animal well-being. The ideal candidate should have the desire to learn how to work with and care for pigs, maintenance knowledge, trucking experience, strong leadership, and problem solving skills. This job will require work on weekends and holidays.
